There are more than 80,000 people in solitary confinement in the United States on any given day. Every state still uses solitary confinement in some form. Recent studies show that solitary confinement shortens lives and permanently alters the brain.

The discussion will focus on the harmful effects solitary confinement has on the mind and body, interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships, and our communities as a whole.
