John D. McMahon ’76

Chief Operating Officer, Long Island Power Authority

John D. McMahon ’76 is currently Chief Operating Officer of the Long Island Power Authority. Mr. McMahon also serves on the board of Duquesne Light Company and Fresh Air Fund. He is married to Catherine McMahon and has three grown children—one of whom, Gregory McMahon, is a member of the Class of 2010—and one grandchild. Mr. McMahon worked for many years at Con Edison where, among other things, he was general counsel, Executive Vice President, and CEO of Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc. and has been a member of the board of directors of companies including Puget Sound Energy and Presidential Life Corp. Mr. McMahon graduated from Manhattan College in 1973.
