Meet Seth Rosen ’99

Tell us about your job.
I’m the Director of Major and Planned Gifts. I really have the best job in the world because I get to meet and talk with alumni and ask them to support the School. New York Law School alums live in every corner of the world, and as an alum myself, I always feel very proud to see what others have accomplished.

What attracted you to New York Law School?
I returned to New York Law School because, as a fund-raiser, the most important thing is to really believe in the institution that you are raising money for—and I know that without a doubt, New York Law School offers the best legal education a student can find. I can honestly say that I owe much of my professional success to the School. This is the place where I learned to analyze problems logically and write in a clear and persuasive manner. As a member of Moot Court, I also learned to speak to a group and think quickly on my feet. Although I don’t practice law anymore, these are skills I use in my job every day.

What is your favorite aspect of your job?
Meeting with alumni and learning about their time at the School and what they went on to do with their education after graduation. There are thousands of alums, and they all have unique stories to tell about how the School shaped their professional and personal lives. Our alumni have gone on to accomplish amazing things as litigators, judges, business people, educators, and in so many other areas. You name it, and a New York Law School alum has done it. I feel privileged to hear their stories everyday.

Tell us a fun fact!
I’m a marathon runner with five under my belt and hopefully dozens more to come. My favorite run is the six-mile loop in Central Park, an oasis right inside the best city in the world. Also, when I’m not out running, I’m a tech fanatic. Whether it’s the latest Web application or a new Mac, I want to try it out right away!

Meet Jessica Aviles, CMP

Tell us about your job.
I’ve been the Event Coordinator for the Office of Event Management for five years. My office is responsible for coordinating all events held on the School’s campus. My job includes collaborating with event organizers, faculty, directors, and managers from all departments to prepare for all meetings and events that take place here. This regularly includes coordinating with Food Services, Audio Visual/Information Technology, Security, and Maintenance to ensure that our events run smoothly.

What attracted you to New York Law School?
My primary attraction to New York Law School, and what keeps me here, is that the relatively small size of our community promotes a family environment.

What is your favorite aspect of your job?
My favorite aspect of my job is planning an event from start to finish; I derive tremendous satisfaction from seeing our events executed successfully.

Tell us a fun fact!
I practice Vinyasa yoga and I love to travel.
