Meet Jessica Aviles, CMP

Tell us about your job.
I am the Events Coordinator for the Office of Events Management. My office is responsible for coordinating all events held on New York Law School’s campus.

In 2002, I established the Law School’s first Office of Events Management, and since then, I’ve worked continuously to streamline event operations and logistics, and improve the quality and polish of the School’s events and activities. I coordinate hundreds of events annually, including the integration of academic classes and examinations with dozens of prestigious guest speakers, workshops and colloquia, social and professional events for alumni and other legal professionals, student activities, and hosting guests of the Law School as diverse as movie producers and “graduates” of a neighboring daycare center.

What attracted you to New York Law School?
My primary attraction to New York Law School, and what keeps me here, is that the relatively small size of our community promotes a family environment.

What is your favorite aspect of your job?
My favorite aspect of my job is planning an event from start to finish; I derive tremendous satisfaction from seeing our events executed successfully.

Tell us a fun fact!
I love to ski, hike, and most of all, plan events!

Meet Oral Hope

Tell us about your job.

I am the Assistant Dean and Registrar at NYLS. My office is responsible for registration, collecting and posting grades, preparing class and final exam schedules, exam administration, bar examination certification, transcript processing, and enrollment and degree verifications.

I firmly believe that customer service is important in every organization. Every member of our staff is aware of the importance of customer service and strives to provide our students, faculty, and staff with the best possible service at all times. I embrace technology and innovation and constantly search for ways to improve the services we deliver to our various constituents. Since arriving at NYLS, I have been able to make changes to the turn-around time for transcripts and other requests made to the Registrar Office. With the help of our IT department, we have been able to use technology to deliver better services to our students, faculty, and staff.

What attracted you to New York Law School?
I was attracted to NYLS because I felt that I could make a difference at the institution.

What is your favorite aspect of your job?
Without a doubt: helping our students. I take pride in helping everyone, especially our students; it gives me great satisfaction. Another favorite aspect is working on projects with some of my wonderfully talented and funny colleagues.

Tell us a fun fact!
I have three beautiful grown daughters I love joking around with.
