This course covers
the law and practice of adoption law, with a particular focus on New York
State practice. Students will be introduced to the steps involved in
different types of adoption proceedings, the doctrinal, strategic,
practical and ethical considerations involved in those proceedings, and
will be exposed to the numerous forms and documents required to complete
an adoption. Issues related to non-traditional couples, adoptions from
foster care, and international adoption will be explored.
