ANATOMY OF A NEW YORK STATE DIVORCE ACTION (2) (FAM 135)

The Honorable Laura Drager, the Honorable Judith Gische

Guides students from initial interview through final argument in a New York divorce action. Students draft a complaint, examine a net worth statement, handle a preliminary conference, meet with forensic experts, and more. Working with a fact pattern, students learn about complex but critical issues involving forensics, financial statements, the legal effect of filing dates, the use of orders of protection, requests for exclusive occupancy, media concerns, and the like. Students must timely complete assignments throughout the semester, and may be required to write a final paper. Enrollment limited.
