DERIVATIVES MARKET REGULATION SEMINAR (2) (BUS900)

Professor Ron Filler

Provides the student with an introduction to the law governing the derivatives markets. The primary focus is on the regulated futures and options on futures markets, but consideration is given to the over-the-counter market in derivatives including the swap and forward markets. Topics include the mechanics of trading in the futures and other deriv­a­tives markets, the use of the derivatives markets for hedging, spec­ul­a­tion and price discovery, the organization and regulation of contract markets and their members, the regulation of futures commission merchants, commodity trading advisors and commodity pool operators. Students must write a research paper. Enrollment limited.
