Professor Stephen Newman
Examines current issues in the field of divorce, with particular attention to the problems that arise in the lawyer’s practice of matrimonial law. Topics covered may vary from semester to semester and may include proof of fault-based grounds for divorce; enforceability of prenuptial agreements; issues in the equitable distribution of property; ethics in the practice of divorce law; problems in lawyer-client relationships; client rights; and divorce mediation as an alternative to the adversary system.
Prerequisite: Family Law (FAM100) or permission of instructor.
