Focuses on the intersection of public schools, K-12 educational policy, and the law, exploring the crucial role education plays in sustaining a democratic society. Topics include the philosophy of public education, socialization and values inculcation in schools, control over curriculum content, student expression, religion in schools, equal educational opportunity, fiscal equity litigation, and school choice plans. Students are required to write a research paper and to present their research project to the class.
