A graded 2-credit mandatory seminar for Harlan Scholars who affiliate with JAC. Each week students are assigned readings relating to JAC’s curricular groupings, including civil rights and civil liberties; environmental law; family law; immigration law; anti-discrimination law and economic justice; labor and employment law; and mental disability law. The readings introduce students to these subjects and a difficult issue on the subject of lawyering for justice, describe contrasting perspectives on public interest or cause lawyering, or evaluate the efficacy of legal movements for justice. The Colloquium is open to a limited number of additional students at the instructors’ discretion.
