LAW & POLICY OF THE WORKPLACE EXTERNSHIP (3) (LEL300)

Professors Mariana Hogan and Seth Harris

The Wagner Externships are field placements with a governmental policy-making office or public policy organization. Wagner Externs work under the supervision of a mentor-attorney or a mentor-public policy analyst. Field placements include legislative offices, think tanks, advocacy organizations, policy-oriented law firms, and public interest organizations. Each Wagner Extern meets three times during the summer with a faculty tutor. Wagner Externs are required to keep time records and write papers that relate to the issues addressed in their placement. Wagner Externs should expect to work at their placements essentially full-time for eight weeks during the summer. Placement credits do not involve scheduled classes. No more than 14 Placement credits may count toward the J.D. Pass-fail only.
