Professor Michael Roffer
This course presents an
in-depth review of practical research skills reinforcing the importance of
knowing how to find and interpret statutes, administrative regulations,
cases, and secondary sources, including practice materials (e.g., forms,
pleadings, court rules). The course will help students refine research
skills, learn shortcuts, and develop cost-effective and efficient research
strategies for intellectual property law related projects. Class sessions
integrate the use of print resources with internet and subscription online
services through which students will learn more sophisticated and
responsible search practices. This course assumes a basic understanding of
intellectual property law and vocabulary.
