MASS TORTS (2) (TRT200)

The Honorable Joseph Maltese

Mass exposure to chemicals, products, and other risks creates novel and intricate problems transforming many areas of law and policy: tort law, insurance, civil procedure and complex litigation, bankruptcy, evidence, choice of law, government contracting and liability, court administration, compensation systems, claims administration, alternative dispute resolution, transnational litigation, environmental and public health regulation, legal ethics and fee practices, and the organization of the legal profession more generally. This seminar uses case studies, opinions, policy materials, and visiting experts to explore many of these developments. A paper is required. Enrollment limited.
