Focuses on substantive legal issues facing print and broadcast media, including defamation, invasion of privacy, access to courts and legal materials, newsgathering torts (such as trespass and fraud), and prior restraints. We will read the leading cases in the relevant substantive areas of law, review some of the publications at issue, and discuss the litigants’ strategy in the case materials with an eye toward understanding how claims against the media can be brought and defended against.
