PRIVACY IN THE DIGITAL AGE (2) (CIP 171)

Professor Andrew Lupu

This course will analyze the broad area of privacy law. The course will begin with a review of the origins and underlying principles as explained in law review articles, cases and statutes in the United States, devolve into a subject area analysis based upon different social environments in which privacy concepts have emerged, and conclude with a survey of existing and emerging structures in Europe and throughout the world. Instruction will stress a weekly review of trends in law and society with a privacy law impact. Throughout the course, students will become aware and evaluate the adequacy of privacy law protections in modern society.
