Real Estate: Title Insurance (2) (LND682)

Title insurance is an integral part of nearly every real estate transaction in the United States, and is increasingly common in other countries as well. This course examines the legal concepts, regulation and uses of title insurance, including title underwriting, types of title policies, endorsements, interpretation of deeds and surveys, the nature, terms and conditions of title insurance coverage, the obligation to defend, professional responsibility and the role of the title agent. In the 2-credit offering, additional time will be spent on the negotiation of title coverage and endorsements, advanced coverage issues, UCC policies for mezzanine financing, claims processes and tort liability.
