TAX PLANNING FOR REAL ESTATE TRANSACTIONS SEMINAR (2) (TAX590)

This course examines the tax planning issues that arise in commercial and residential real estate development and investment.  Topics addressed include choice of entity, financing techniques, tax credits, charitable easements, low-income housing, state and local taxes, basis, component depreciation, leasing, workout structuring and mortgage foreclosure, sale lease-back transactions and taxable and tax-deferred dispositions and condemnations.  Using case studies, students will analyze investment opportunities and devise exit strategies.

Prerequisites: Core Curriculum; recommended TAX 380, TAX 190.
