Concentrations

After the foundational elements of federal income tax have been mastered through the Core Curriculum, the Graduate Tax Program at New York Law School offers the opportunity to pursue six areas in depth—Corporate Tax, Estate Planning, International Tax, Planning for Entrepreneurs and Closely Held Businesses, State and Local Taxation and Finance, and Tax Litigation. In each of these areas there is a capstone seminar and curriculum of advanced tax and other related courses that enable the student to build a substantial body of knowledge in these fields. These curricula are called concentrations and are listed below. The advanced tax and related courses listed in each concentration are elective except to the extent they are prerequisites for the capstone seminar. The program also offers a concentration in General Taxation for the student who wants a broad survey of tax law either because he or she is already specialized in practice or intends to specialize later on. Some capstone seminars will be of interest to concentrators in several areas and students are permitted to enroll in as many as they wish.
