From the Directors
The motto of New York Law School is Learn Law, Take Action. In the Graduate Tax Program this means enabling our students to increase their mastery of tax law and refine their practice skills in order to better serve their clients and communities. In order to accomplish this goal, the Program embodies a unique, measured approach to graduate tax study. All students complete a rigorous Core Curriculum and also choose an area of concentration. The Core Curriculum provides a solid foundation in the fundamentals of substantive tax law and basic tax research and writing skills, while keeping the highest standards of professional responsibility always in focus. The wide range of elective courses allows each student to fully prepare for a capstone research and writing seminar in his or her chosen area of concentration. The capstone seminars give students an opportunity to tackle sophisticated problems at the forefront of current tax practice under the guidance of practicing lawyers who are leaders in the field.
The Graduate Tax Program at New York Law School will give you the opportunity to create the right program to help you fulfill your goals in undertaking graduate tax study. Already our young program is serving men and women engaged in every aspect of tax practice and at many stages of career development—established tax professionals seeking to broaden their knowledge of the field, financial product designers and advisers, business executives, estate planning and administration professionals, legal advisers to entrepreneurs, family businesses and not-for-profits, real estate specialists, practitioners preparing themselves for a mid-career transition and recent law school graduates. Some are pursuing their graduate tax studies full time but most are part-time students working for major corporations, banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions, investment and venture capital funds, family owned businesses, law firms of all sizes in New York and New Jersey and in law practices in urban and suburban communities.
