Legal Research: Practical Skills
This course reviews and builds on the skills introduced in the first year Legal Practice course. It helps students refine research skills, learn shortcuts, and develop research strategies. The course focuses on methods for researching case law, constitutional law, statutes, and regulations in federal and state jurisdictions. Students are introduced to the basics of legislative history research. The use of secondary sources to enhance the research process is also covered. Class sessions integrate the use of traditional print resources with online services.
