Real Estate: Legal Planning and Practice
This course provides students with practical lawyering experience in the planning and implementation of a real estate deal. The course uses a series of specific, related transactions—i.e., the acquisition and renovation of a commercial or mixed-use building in New York City, and the subsequent leasing or other disposition of the resulting units—as a base for examining both legal and practical problems arising in such a deal. Course work emphasizes planning (e.g., problem identification, the development of alternatives), negotiation, and document drafting.
Prerequisite: Property (REQ500) and Real Estate Transactions
