Build Your Network By Staying Involved

The NYLS Alumni Association offers many opportunities for alumni to connect with each other, current students, and the NYLS community:

Attend Alumni Association Events

You’re invited to these and other Alumni Association events and activities throughout the year:

  • Networking events
  • Annual Bowl-a-Thon and other social events and activities
  • CLE programs
  • 1L NYLS “welcome” mug distribution
  • Lunches for bar exam takers
  • Alumni receptions in cities outside of New York City
  • And much more!

You can also get involved by helping to organize these and other events. The Alumni Association, which is led by a board of alumni directors and officers, presents leadership opportunities for graduates who wish to build their credentials by giving their ideas, time, and talent.

Visit the Alumni Association page for more information.

Serve as a Mentor

Alumni Mentors are part of the Professional Network, and they may volunteer to serve as mentors only, or in addition to other ways they want to be involved.

As part of the mentoring relationship, mentors and mentees make a commitment to meet at least three times during the year. During such meetings, we encourage you to:

  • Discuss and refine your mentee’s career goals
  • Share information about your law practice
  • Refer them to fellow alumni and other professional contacts
  • Guide them as they enter the profession and learn more about the practice of law

By signing up, your information will be listed in our mentor database, and students will reach out to you directly. Register at the NYLS Professional Network page and select to be a Mentor.
