At Gala 2013 held at THREE SIXTY on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, New York Law School honored three very special honorees, all of whom have made New York Law School very proud. We had a spectacular night with over 500 people in attendance and approximately $1,000,000 raised.

Starr-Foundation-logo The Starr Foundation was established in 1955 by Cornelius Vander Starr. Mr. Starr died in 1968, leaving his estate to the Foundation. Mr. Starr’s wish was that his partners continue to run his foundation and his companies after his death.  Maurice R. Greenberg ’50  is the Chairman and CEO of the Starr companies and, under his leadership as Chairman of the Foundation, its assets have grown from a few million dollars to more than $1.3 billion. The Foundation has made more than $3 billion in grants worldwide, including more than $2 billion in New York City and State.   Knowles_Jeffrey_HR Jeffrey Knowles ’75 is widely recognized as one of the country’s leading advertising attorneys.  He joined Venable LLP, an American Lawyer 100 law firm headquartered in Washington, D.C., as an equity partner in 1984.  Mr. Knowles manages Venable’s Government Division, has served on its Executive Committee since 1988 and leads the firm’s Advertising, Marketing and New Media Practice Group, which has been recognized by US News and World Report and Chambers as the best advertising practice in the U.S.  He represents leading global advertisers, consumer brands, direct marketers, Internet companies, as well as banks and payment processors that service those companies, in investigations and litigation against the Department of Justice, Federal Trade Commission, Food and Drug Administration, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and State Attorneys General.  Mr. Knowles founded the Electronic Retailing Association in 1990 and has served as its outside general counsel, as a member of its Board of Directors and as Chairman of the Board.  He is also a Vice Chair on the New York Law School Board of Trustees and a member of the Board of Visitors of Columbia University, where he graduated from Columbia College in 1971.     Executive PortraitFreddi Weintraub ’88 is Partner at Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy, LLP where she serves as corporate immigration counsel to clients in a wide range of industries including universities and teaching hospitals; financial investment and insurance firms; media and management consulting firms; fashion and cosmetic companies; fine arts organizations and individual investors and entrepreneurs.  Freddi frequently represents organizations and individuals on a Pro Bono basis and she has made the lists of New York Super Lawyers (2006 – 2013) and the Best Lawyers in America (2008 – 2011, 2013).  Freddi has been an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers University Law School and a Guest Lecturer in Immigration Law at New York Law School and has lectured at the CUNY Graduate Center. She is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences and has been quoted in national magazines and newspapers on a variety of topics related to US Immigration and Nationality Law.
