April 28 – Professor David Chang Investiture as Theodore Dwight 125th Professor of Law

Celebrate the appointment of David Chang as the Theodore Dwight 125th Anniversary Professor of Law. Professor Chang is an award-winning expert in various areas of constitutional law, including interpretative theory, discrimination, freedom of speech, and hate crimes. The professorship honors Theodore Dwight (1822–1892), the central figure in the founding of New York Law School.

Come ready to play or watch games that will include faculty and fellow alumni. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team. Starring Bill LaPiana, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Student Engagement and the Rita and Joseph Solomon Professor of Wills, Trusts and Estates, as “Alex Tribeca.”

Cocktails will be served.

Join us as we unveil the new Hall of Judges that commemorates the contributions of NYLS alumni over our first 125 years who have served as jurists at every level of government. Late 1891, as New York Law School began, James Naismith invented basketball. The game’s birth and development involve a host of controversies, still current: keeping true to original intent while rules evolve and conditions change; uniformity vs. diversity; legitimate limits of violence; penalties
vs. punishments; and equal opportunity to participate and succeed.

New York Law School is certified by the New York State Continuing Legal Education Board as an Accredited Provider of continuing legal education in the State of New York. The school has been serving the legal education needs of the greater New York area for more than 100 years, including the continuing educational needs of its graduates and other area attorneys.
