2013 will mark nearly 25 years since the 1989 revisions of the
NYC Charter that fundamentally changed NYC government. This symposium,
featuring a keynote by NYC Corporation Counsel Michael A. Cardozo, NYC
Charter Revision Commission Chairs, and others who have been involved in
NYC Charter revisions, will examine the allocation of powers under the
1989 Charter, draw lessons from recent commissions, and discuss the role
of Charter revisions for the future of NYC as the city prepares to elect a
new mayor. Includes continental breakfast; CLE available.

Society through the Writings of Dr. Seuss™

This all-day symposium will examine aspects of civil society reflected in a selection of Dr. Seuss books, including shared interests in society, personal rights of identity, the nature of war, and business and society. Distinguished speakers will include keynote speaker Donald Pease (Ted and Helen Geisel Third Century Professor in the Humanities, Dartmouth College, and author of Theodor Seuss Geisel), Lani Guinier (Harvard), and Dennis Parker (ACLU), among others. Each of four panels will address a topic as it relates to a specific Dr. Seuss title. Includes breakfast, lunch, and Seuss-themed reception. CLE available.

The competition is the nation’s largest student-run moot court competition and the premier national competition dedicated exclusively to labor and employment law.
