Mystery Writing for Lawyers

Laurie Hutzler ’79 has never met a lawyer who didn’t have dozens of great stories to tell. A legal practice deals with human nature at its best and worst and involves situations of tremendous conflict.

In this 4-hour workshop, you will learn how to transform your own experience into great mysteries – fictional movies, books or tv, populated by a cast of memorable characters only you can create.

Workshop Leader, Laurie H. Hutzler ’79 started her career in entertainment as a staff writer and story consultant on the NBC series, The Black Donnellys. Since then she has consulted and lectured widely in the television and film industry. Among her successes, she has consulted for Academy Award winner Paul Haggis on his recent films: In the Valley of Elah and Quantum of Solace (James Bond). Laurie is currently a consultant for FremantleMedia’s Worldwide Drama Division, working on a long-running television series in the UK, Europe and Australia. On April 30, she consults for you.

Rick Landman ’88, owns his own walking tour company, is an expert on land use and has been a resident of TriBeCa for the last 30 years. Join Rick for a guided tour of the neighborhood and discuss various land use law suits and creative real estate developments that made TriBeCa what it is today

New York Law School and Harvard Law School are partners in the Future Ed Conference, exploring and inventing the future of legal education. Professor Elizabeth Chambliss, co-director of the Center for Professional Values and Practice at New York Law School, will discuss the challenges raised by the recession and the globalization of legal services and what law schools and legal regulators are doing to respond.

Gambling 101

Help is on the way. Our pit boss will be at the Law School early to teach you the basic rules and strategy of blackjack, poker, roulette and craps for maximum game enjoyment.
