Richard J. Sobelsohn

Adjunct Professor

Richard J. Sobelsohn is Director, Content and Product Initiatives – Real Estate at Lexis Nexis. 

Mr. Sobelsohn is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED® AP) from the U.S. Green Building Council.  He has in-depth knowledge of the LEED® Green Building Rating System™, the globally accepted rating and certification program for design, construction, operation, and maintenance of green buildings.  Having a LEED® AP attorney on a project team allows clients to earn one point toward LEED certification.

Prior to joining Lexis Nexis, Richard was an associate in the Real Estate Practice at Moses & Singer.  In that capacity, he represented developers, corporations, financial institutions and individuals concerning a variety of commercial real estate transactions including sustainable development, acquisitions, dispositions, financing, condominium offerings and leasing.  Mr. Sobelsohn has also worked in the Real Estate practice groups of the law firms Stroock, Stroock & Lavan, LLP and Kaye Scholer LLP.  Before attending law school, Mr. Sobelsohn was Director of The Sobelsohn School, an adult business school specializing in real estate, insurance and accounting.  He is currently an adjunct professor of law at Brooklyn Law School and at New York Law School.


Mr. Sobelsohn earned his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School (1998) and his bachelor of arts in history from Colgate University (1982), cum laude
