Employment Opportunity with the Center for Real Estate Studies

The Center for Real Estate Studies at New York Law School seeks to hire one Teaching & Research Fellow.  The Fellow must be a law firm associate who is eligible to participate in his or her firm's pro bono fellowship program.

The Center for Real Estate Studies is one of the leading academic research centers devoted to the study of both the private practice and public regulation of real estate.  The Center sponsors conferences, symposia, continuing legal education programs, and hosts distinguished lawyers and other real estate professionals to speak on developments in the practice of real estate law.  The Center is a leader in developing innovative legal education programs, creating parternships with the top real estate lawyers in NYC, and better training our students pursuing real estate careers.  The Center helps to bridge the existing gap between the private practice and academic study of real estate, and is one of the premier places in the country for the study of real estate.  The Center's programs and cirriculum reflect current concerns about ensuring environmental sustainability, creating affordable housing, preserving historical landmarks, and safeguarding the financial stability of the residential and commerical mortgage market.

This Pro Bono Fellowship is a prestigious appointment that allows the Fellow to pursue his or her interests in real estate from an academic perspective.  As part of the New York Law School community, the Fellow will be to participate in all aspects of the law school's academic life, including an active speaker series, full access to the newly-built library and teaching facilities, interaction with a prestigious and diverse faculty, networking possibilities, and assistance with our new Real Estate LLM program.

The Fellow's responsibilities will include:

  • Co-teaching a real estate course during the Fall and Spring semesters,
  • Supervising students in research and writing, and
  • Conducting research on a real estate and/or land use topic.

Successful candidates will be attorneys with professional experience in real estate law.  This Fellowship is a full-time position with funding provided by the candidate's law firm.  Start date is flexible.
