Street Law Project: Positions Available

The Justice Action Center's Racial Justice Project is looking to hire current New York Law School students to fill the following positions:

Street Law Project Co-chair and Youth Coordinator

The Street Law Project offers law students the opportunity to reach out to the community and put their knowledge to use by teaching a practical law course to high school students at Groundwork, Inc. and the Jordan L. Mott Middle School. Through their participation, law students increase their legal knowledge and lawyering skills, develop new perspectives, and enrich their overall law school experience. The project also fosters positive youth development and supports legal literacy by reaching out to urban schools and areas with traditionally under-served populations.

The Street Law Project Co-chair will play a lead role in managing and shaping the Street Law Project. The Co-chair will work to develop new curriculum in order to expand the size and scope of the project, further develop training materials in order to prepare New York Law School students as mentors, conduct training sessions with NYLS mentors, coordinate with Groundwork, Inc. and Jordan L. Mott staff to implement the Street Law lessons, coordinate with the law firms of Mayer Brown and Fried, Frank, Harris, and Shriver in order to implement the annual moot court, and attend the weekly Street Law lessons at Groundwork, Inc. and Jordan L. Mott in order to facilitate the Project.

The Street Law Project Youth Coordinator will play a lead role in managing and shaping the middle school component of the Street Law Project. The Youth Coordinator will work to develop new curriculum in order to expand the size and scope of the project, coordinate with Groundwork, Inc. and Jordan L. Mott staff to implement the Street Law lessons, coordinate with the law firms of Mayer Brown and Fried, Frank, Harris, and Shriver in order to implement the annual moot court, and attend the weekly Street Law lessons at Groundwork, Inc. and Jordan L.
