Legal Information for Families Today (LIFT)

LIFT Fall and Spring Internship Opportunities

The Justice Action Center is excited to partner with Legal Information for Families Today (LIFT) to offer semester-long internships in family law. Interns will not only earn practical family law experience, but also credit towards their public service certificate.

About LIFT

The mission of the LIFT program is to increase access to justice for children and families by providing legal information, community education, and compassionate guidance, while promoting system-wide reform of the courts and public agencies.

About LIFT’s Family Law Internship Program

Interns will rotate through the various LIFT programs, working with individuals and families through the LIFT Family Law Information Hotline, and at the LIFT Education and Information site. The Education and Information program is located at the Family Court Help Center in the Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan, or Queens Family Court. Interns will also assist LIFT staff at LIFT’s Family Legal Center, which may include accompanying individuals to court or to the support collection unit.

Applicants should be law students in good standing with experience or demonstrated interest in family law. Applicants should also possess:

  • strong verbal and written skills
  • a commitment to providing high quality, compassionate service;
  • a professional and enthusiastic attitude;
