Kathryn Gottschalk
C. Edwin Baker Fellow for the Diane Abbey Law Center for Children and Families

 

The Abbey Center’s Baker Fellowship was established in memory of C. Edwin Baker, Professor of Law and Communication at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Professor Baker was a leading scholar in constitutional law, communications law, free speech, and considered one of the country’s foremost authorities on the First Amendment and on mass media policy.
As the 2012-2013 Fellow, Ms. Gottschalk is grateful to serve the New York Family Law Community in the name of Professor Baker. Ms. Gottschalk is a graduate of New York Law School’s class of 2011. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in environmental design from the University of Colorado, Boulder.


While attending New York Law School, Ms. Gottschalk was an Associate with the Justice Action Center and the Center for International Law. Ms. Gottschalk served as an editor for the Global Human Rights Bulletin and a contributing member to the Detained by US blog.
Prior to her Abbey Center Fellowship, Ms. Gottschalk worked as a consultant for the MergerWatch Project and as a Legal Fellow for Physicians for Reproductive Choice & Health. Ms. Gottschalk has co-authored several papers, including Models for Merging Hospitals (New York State Health Foundation Report) and Merging Catholic and Non-Sectarian Hospitals: NYS Models for Addressing the Ethical Challenges (New York State Bar Health Law Journal).
