Lisa F. Grumet began working as Associate Director of the Diane Abbey Law Center for Children and Families in August 2013. Before coming to New York Law School, she worked at the New York City Law Department as Chief of Policy and Planning for the Family Court Division at a time of significant juvenile justice reform in New York City. She previously served as a Senior Counsel for the Legal Counsel and General Litigation Divisions at the Law Department and at the 2010 Charter Revision Commission. She has worked with New York City officials on a range of education policy issues, including student suspension protocols; Title VI, Title IX, IDEA and EEOA compliance; Mayoral control of schools; and separation of church and state. She has taught as a lecturer and adjunct at Columbia and Fordham Law Schools. She was a Staff Attorney for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and while in law school worked for the Campaign for Fiscal Equity. B.A. Amherst College 1992, J.D. Yale Law School 1995.
