Dear New York Law School Community:
New York City and the metropolitan area continue to recover from the effects of Hurricane Sandy. We hope all of the members our community and their families are safe and are faring well through the disruptions caused by the storm.
Given the continued power outages and disruption of mass transit service, New York Law School's classes, exams, meetings, clinics, and events are cancelled for the remainder of the week (Wednesday, October 31 through Friday, November 2). In addition, the MPRE scheduled to take place at NYLS on Saturday, November 3, has been cancelled. MPRE officials will notify us as soon as they receive rescheduled dates from the Board of Law Examiners.
You may experience disruptions in accessing the Law School's e-mail and Blackboard systems. Accordingly, please use personal e-mail addresses, text messaging, and social media, as a means to communicate electronically. Faculty and staff are encouraged to work remotely when access to email and other systems is available. Further, our Academic Affairs team is working on a plan to reschedule classes and exams and we will keep you advised as more information becomes available. Please continue to check this website for updates about the Law School's status. You may also check Twitter and Facebook for updates.
Many of you have expressed concern about damage to the Law School. Fortunately, the School did not any experience flooding, and sustained only minor physical damage from the storm and repairs already are underway. The dormitory sustained no damage and residents are safe. NYLS security officers and maintenance staff are monitoring the buildings around the clock.
If you have any questions, please contact Nancy Guida at nguida@nyls.edu.
Thank you very much,
Anthony W. Crowell
