Mia Consalvo, Ph.D

Mia Consalvo is an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the School of Media Arts & Studies at Ohio University. Professor Consalvo is also the Vice President of the Association of Internet researchers, and is on the steering committee of Women in Games International. She is an active member of the Women in Game Development SIG of the IGDA, where she has worked to promote more industry and academic collaborations to expand women's involvement in the game industry. She has been quoted in The New York Times, The Christian Science Monitor, and Business Week regarding women and games and the game industry generally. Her current research examines women¹s gameplay, the economics of the videogame industry, and pedagogical uses of games. Professor Consalvo has given more than 40 conference and invited presentations and was also author of Cheating: Gaining Advantage in Videogames from MIT Press.
