California Supreme Court Rules for Same-Sex Marriage, Declares Sexual Orientation a "Suspect Classification"

The California Supreme Court has ruled that same-sex couples are entitled to marry in that state, and that same-sex couples married elsewhere are entitled to have their marriages recognized as valid in California. Center Application Deadline Has Now Passed

The Justice Action Center's 2008 membership drive has now concluded. The application deadline was Friday, March 14, at 5:00 p.m. No further applications will be accepted.

We thank the many qualified students who have applied. We will inform applicants of admissions decisions no later than March 31.

Professor David Schoenbrod Helps Organize Environmental Symposium

Professor David Schoenbrod is one of three organizers of Breaking the Logjam: An Environmental Law for the 21st Century. The aim of the symposium is to come up with concrete proposals for the new Congress and administration that will take office in 2009. The symposium will feature over forty environmental experts from academia, government, ENGOs, and business, proposing innovative solutions to a broad range of old and new environmental problems confronting the U.S. The symposium is cosponsored by New York Law School and NYU School of Law and will take place on Friday, March 28th and Saturday, March 29 at NYU School of Law. For program details, please click here.
