Update Your Password Profiles

If you entered NYLS before the Fall semster of 2008, you were initially assigned an email address ending in @nyls.edu. Chances are that you used your new email address to set up your Lexis and Westlaw accounts, and to register your passwords in these systems.

In August 2008 NYLS changed email systems, and converted all student addresses to the naming convention firstname.lastname@law.nyls.edu. For one year, all email sent to a student’s old address was automatically forwarded to the new one, ending in @law.nyls.edu. However, this automatic forwarding ended in April 2009.

Thus if you have not updated the email address in your Lexis and Westlaw accounts, then the email notices sent to that address are no longer reaching you. This includes important communications, such as acknowledgements that are sent when you change your Lexis or Westlaw password, and notices from your Lexis or TWEN webcourses.

Students should periodically check to make sure their profiles on LexisNexis and Westlaw are current.
