Impact Today! is a lunchtime series hosted by the Impact Center for Public Interest Law. The series highlights how current events impact civil rights and civil liberties.
Program 2: Sanctuary Cities and Federalism
Bitta Mostofi, Acting Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs and long-time human rights activist, will lead a timely discussion on the rights of local governments to become “Sanctuary Cities.” Where did this idea originate? What does this look like in New York City in 2017? What actions may the federal government take to enforce federal immigration laws in local governments?
Lunch will be served. This event is open to all students, faculty, and staff.
