Justice Speaks: Raising the Age of Criminal Responsibilty in New York State

October 16, 2013 @ 12:50 pm - 1:50 pm

New York State remains one of two states that have refused to raise the age of criminal responsibility to 18 years. When a person under the age of 18 is judged and sentenced as an adult there are heavy ramifications including high rates of recidivism, mental health issues, and negative impacts on educational opportunities. Judge Michael Corriero has been the front leader for juvenile justice reform and as the Executive Director and Founder of the New York Center for Juvenile Justice he continues to educate the public about the need to raise the age of criminal responsibility in New York State.

Attendees at this program may be eligible for one hour of continuing legal education (“CLE”) credit in professional practice for both transitional and non-transitional attorneys.

Pizza will be served.
There is no charge to attend or to receive CLE.

RSVP to JAC@NYLS.EDU.
