Trustee Updates | Steven E. Pegalis ’65 and James D. Zirin

Congratulations to New York Law School Trustee Steven E. Pegalis ’65, a founding partner at Pegalis & Erickson LLC and a plaintiff’s medical malpractice trial attorney for over 40 years. Pegalis was named a “lawyer to watch” by The Long Island Business News on January 23. He previously won recognition as a 2017 “Lawyer of the Year” on Long Island for Plaintiffs’ Personal Injury Litigation by Best Lawyers©. In addition, the winter 2016 edition of Business magazine by Best Lawyers©, honored Pegalis in the category “Medical Malpractice Plaintiffs.”

On February 2, NYLS celebrated a new book by Trustee James D. Zirin, Supremely Partisan: How Raw Politics Tips the Scales in the United States Supreme Court. Zirin is a leading litigator and author. His new work investigates the polarized composition of the nation’s highest court. In a question-and-answer session with Dean Anthony W. Crowell, Zirin shared insights on Supreme Court appointments during the Trump Administration. The event was aptly timed just after President Trump announced his U.S. Supreme Court nominee, Judge Neil Gorsuch.
