STUDENT GRADUATION SPEAKER

Each year two students (one from the Day Division and one from the Evening Division) are selected to speak at Graduation. The two student graduation speakers will be chosen by the Dean's Graduation Committee, which includes 2 graduating students appointed by the SBA as well as the Dean, faculty, and senior administrators. Criteria for selection will include the contents of the proposed speech and results of an interview with the committee. The time allocated for delivering the speech during the graduation ceremony is approximately three (3) minutes.

Graduating students who wish to be considered as candidates for the 2012 Student Graduation Speaker should submit the following by e-mail to Shani Darby in the Office of Student Life at shani.darby@nyls.edu

1. An outline of the proposed speech
2. A resume

Copies of the outlines will then be made available for graduating students to review. Students will be asked to express their preferences via an electronic vote, dates to be announced. The top candidate from this voting process will be interviewed by the Dean's Graduation Committee, along with other candidates selected by the Committee. Speaker interviews will be held in early March and/or mid March.
