New York Law School Professor Faith Stevelman Testifies Before
Congress
On June 26, New York Law School Professor Faith Stevelman gave testimony before the House Financial Services Committee in favor of the “Extractive Industries Transparency and Disclosure Act,” a bill that would require internationally operating extractive companies to report payments made to foreign governments for natural resource contracts.
The bill is sponsored by Congressman Barney Frank, D-Mass., who is also Chairman of the House Services Financial Committee.
Professor Stevelman is the Director of the Center on Business Law & Policy at the Law School and a well-known authority on corporate governance and securities law. Earlier this summer Professor Stevelman organized six programs at the Law and Society annual meeting in Montreal for the Corporate and Securities Law Women Scholars group. She also participated in an all-day seminar at Widener University Law School where she addressed two sitting Delaware judges and members of the legislature about changes to Delaware corporate law.
