Members of the Writing Program Faculty
In this first term of a two-term sequence, students learn to read cases, analyze legal doctrine, spot issues, synthesize rules, apply rules to factual problems, and to express their work in written form. Meeting in small sections, students are assigned papers on which they receive individual comments to assist them in developing their ability to analyze legal issues and write clearly, concisely, and coherently. Legal research is the subject of additional class sessions taught over a six-week period and is integrated into later paper assignments. Students are also introduced to computer-assisted legal research tools. Followed by Written and Oral Advocacy (LWR200).
