College student education project

College has become more expensive for students and they graduate with more debt than ever. For many new graduates entering the workforce, debt puts them in an instant disadvantage. Today's average college graduate has $20,000 of student loan debt and $2000 of credit card debt.

New attention has been focused on the student loan industry and on what role colleges should play in helping students make sound financial decisions. With this new spotlight on student debt, students and parents are likely to have many questions for college officials. You want to be equipped to answer these questions.

The Coalition for Debtor Education is kicking off a series of programs aimed towards enhancing the ability of college officials to educate and advise students on pressing issues of personal finance and debt.

The Coalition is a nonprofit organization housed in Fordham Law School. The Coalition’s continuing mission is to raise the financial awareness of all citizens. For more information about this program please contact erikshumar@law.fordham.edu.
