Mondays, 12:50-1:50 pm (Feel free to bring a lunch)
Required course for (and open only to) 3rd Year Harlan Scholars of the Institute for Information Law and Policy
Room A602
The Capstone experience will provide an opportunity for Harlan Scholars of the Institute for Information Law and Policy to pursue independent and high-impact research on current issues relating to their course of study. Harlan Scholars will commence Notes or large-scale research projects in the spring of their second year, continuing into their third year. The Capstone experience will then provide an opportunity to work together to present this research. Harlan Scholars will learn to defend and argue their projects in a face-to-face setting. They will also work together in small groups to create multimedia public presentation strategies for dissemination of their research. Harlan Scholars will work with faculty and with each other to design and implement a publicly-accessible and web-based display of their Notes and projects. By putting the results of their work on-line, students will ensure maximum visibility and impact for their research. In addition, students will have an easily accessible and well-designed presentation of their work product to show potential employers and the world. In addition, the Capstone Seminar will feature frequent guest lecturers on issues of internet and information law and policy and law practice technology.
During the Fall Semester, the Capstone will comprise student presentations/critiques and guest lectures
During the Spring Semester, the Capstone will combine hands-on skills training and the development of on-line presentations with guest lectures
