Data ports in A602 are live and available for student use.

Locations

To connect to the NYLS network your laptop requires a 10/100BaseT ethernet port.  Most newer laptops have integrated ethernet ports, and PCMCIA cards are available for older laptops.  Your local area connection must be configured for DHCP or 'Set to obtain an IP address automatically'.

You will also need an ethernet cable.

Please note you will not have access to your personal U:\ drive from your laptop.  You will be able to access many other NYLS resources including Outlook Web Access, the NYLS internet & intranet sites, as well as the Public Internet.

WARNING! Do not plug an analog modem into the network jacks or telephone ports.  These ports are digital and could cause damage to your modem.

Labs & Kiosks

Located throughtout the school are several student Labs & Kiosks computers.  These computers are specially configured for student use, and are restricted in function.

For more information please see the Lab computing page.
