Based on availability, admission is offered to qualified candidates for transfer from other ABA-approved law schools.  In general, candidates must have completed one academic year and be in good standing to be considered.  Advanced standing is granted for no more than one-third of the credits required for a J.D. from New York Law School, as determined by the Office of Academic Affairs following an offer of admission.  Advanced standing will not be assigned for work completed with a grade below “C” or its equivalent, or for work completed in pre-admission programs.

Application Deadlines:

  • Fall (August) admission—June 1
  • Spring (January) admission—November 1
  • Summer (May) admission—April 1
  • Application Requirements:
    Completed application for J.D. admission with $65 application fee
  • Current LSDAS subscription
  • Official transcript of law school courses and grades sent directly from the law school
  • Letter of good academic standing sent directly from the law school
  • A personal statement outlining interest in pursuing law study and reasons for transfer
  • At least one, but not more than three, letters of recommendation in support of the application for transfer
