Federal law requires that all recipients of any Federal Family Education Loan program receive loan
entrance counseling before initial loan proceeds can be disbursed. Entering students and continuing students who are first-time borrowers who are recipients of Federal Stafford and/or Federal Perkins loans must complete the mandatory entrance counseling session. Information on the student borrower’s rights and responsibilities will be provided and explained. Entrance counseling is available online at

Prior to graduation, less than half-time enrollment status and withdrawal from New York Law School, all students who borrowed from the Federal Family Education Loan program must attend exit counseling. Information regarding estimated monthly payments, repayment options, loan consolidation, deferment and forbearance options, and other rights and responsibilities. Students will be contacted by the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid with details regarding exit counseling sessions. The Office of Admissions and Financial Aid offers exit counseling sessions to graduating students to the following general schedule:
February graduates: November
May graduates: March
September graduates: August
