All federal, state or institutional programs require that a student maintain satisfactory academic progress toward completion of the degree program. The following chart summarizes satisfactory academic progress standards. Please be aware that the chart does not reflect New York Law School’s recommendation concerning the number of credits to be taken each semester.

Full time status requires enrollment for 12 credits or more each of six academic semesters. In addition to completing the number of credits indicated, the student must achieve a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00. Part time status requires enrollment for 8 credits or more each of eight academic semesters. A student must achieve a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 is required as well. In addition to the requirements above, federal regulations define the maximum program length for degree completion as 150% of the standard program length, and restrict federal aid eligibility beyond that point. Under these rules, full-time students must complete the degree requirements within nine (and part time students within 12) regular semesters, including semesters of approved leave of absence to retain eligibility for student financial assistance.
Further, New York Law School restricts the number of semesters a student may receive scholarship and/or need-based grant. Full time students may receive a maximum of 6 semesters and part time students and maximum of 8 semesters of institutional scholarship or grant aid.
All New York Law School students must comply with the established academic standards and procedures outline in the New York Law School Student Handbook and Academic Catalog.
