Spring Recruitment Program Description & Calendar

Meeting the Needs of Every Employer
The Spring Recruitment Program allows invited employers to recruit a substantial group of students especially interested in your work. Our Spring Recruitment Program is modeled after the “large firm-style” Fall recruitment. Our office facilitates every aspect of recruiting — from promoting the work of your office, to collecting resumes and scheduling interviews. By consolidating the recruitment of many employers, we entice substantial numbers of students to apply so that you can find the ones who best fit your office’s needs.

Easy-as-can-be Recruiting
In early December, select employers will be invited to participate in Spring Recruitment. Interested employers must register by the following January. You tell us whether you would like to hire graduating students for permanent positions or maybe you are only looking at summer hiring. The Office of Career Services (OCS) will compile a list of all employers participating in the Spring Recruitment Program, which will be distributed to the students. Each student will individually select the law offices to which he/she would like to apply and submit résumés and/or cover letters, as specified by the employer, to the Career Services Office by mid-February. If the employer wishes, the applicants may also be asked to bring a writing sample and/or transcript to an interview.

Résumé Delivery for Prescreening
All student applications will be bundled and delivered to the individual employers for their review in late February. If there are students whom you would like to interview, we offer two options. You tell us which students you would like to interview and OCS will contact each student and arrange all scheduling for on-campus interviewing on a date chosen by you. Alternatively, you may contact students for interviews at your offices. We expect all interviewing to take place between February and April, with the exception of spring break.

Flexible Scheduling
We ask that when you register, you pick convenient on-campus interviewing dates.  You do not have to commit to interview students on-campus, but setting up tentative dates helps our planning efforts, in the event you do want us to provide this service.  If after your review of resumes, you would prefer to interview in your office, just let us know.

Facilitating Timely Hiring Decisions
Our goal is to have the bulk of the resume review and interviewing take place between late February and the beginning of April, with hiring decisions made in the first week of April. Employers are free to make offers at any time, but we do ask them to leave the offers open until April 8. We recognize that these time frames may accelerate some employers’ typical summer hiring schedule, but we wanted to make sure that our invitational employers were given the most competitive pool of students from which to recruit. If this schedule is unworkable with your office needs, please let us know and we will work to make alternate arrangements.
