Can I pre-screen student résumés prior to On-Campus Interview?
Yes, you may prescreen student résumés. All student applications will be bundled and delivered to the individual employers for their review. Alternatively, we will be happy to make the selections for you that meet your needs and on a basis that is fair to all qualifying students. You tell us which students you would like to interview and OCS will contact each student and arrange all scheduling for on-campus interviewing on a date chosen by you. Alternatively, you may contact students for interviews at your offices. Detailed descriptions are available of Fall, Spring, and Rolling On-Campus Interviewing.

What is the grading system at New York Law School?
All of New York Law School’s courses with enrollments over 20 are graded on a mandatory, highly rigorous curve is based on B, meaning that half of the students will be awarded a B- (2.67) or less, and half will receive a B (3.00) or better. This reflects our faculty’s deep commitment to setting meaningful, competitive performance standards. High grades are earned against high standards. This demanding grading standard has important consequences—which can be illustrated when one compares GPA and class rank. At some of our local peer schools, a student in the top 10 percent of the class would have received higher than a 3.53 GPA, while New York Law School would have awarded a student at the same rank, only a 3.41 GPA. By definition, student grades naturally fall in a curve at any institution. Each school’s faculty chooses, whether actively or passively, to have an inflated curve or not. At New York Law School there is certainly no grade inflation. Data taken from the NALP Directory of Law Schools 2003-2004 shows only too well the rigorous standards our faculty set.

How are students ranked?
Student rankings are computed only at the end of each academic year. Each class (separated for the day and evening divisions) is ranked numerically (e.g. 1/375 or 375/375). At graduation, both divisions are combined for ranking purposes.
