Ruth S. Hochberger

Ruth S. Hochberger teaches journalism and media ethics at New York University and Columbia Graduate School of Journalism.  An attorney, Professor Hochberger was editor-in-chief of the New York Law Journal for twelve years.  During 25 years in legal journalism, she was a Law Journal feature reporter, publisher of 14 monthly newsletters for lawyers, and managing editor of the Law Journal.  As editor-in-chief, she was responsible for the paper’s Web site and a magazine for young lawyers, New York Lawyer. She began her career as a criminal defense lawyer for The Legal Aid Society in Manhattan.  

Jeffrey Toobin

Jeffrey Toobin has been a staff writer at The New Yorker since 1993 and CNN legal analyst since 2002.  Toobin has written about the disputed 2000 presidential election, the Paula Jones sexual harassment case and the trial of Timothy McVeigh, among other controversial cases.  He is also the author of several bestselling books, including A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal that Nearly Brought Down a President; The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson; and Too Close to Call: The 36-Day Battle to Decide the 2000 Election.

 

Erin Moriarty

Erin Moriarty is a correspondent for CBS News 48 hours.  A lawyer as well as a journalist, she has covered many important legal stories including DNA testing of evidence in death row cases and battered woman's syndrome.  She has received nine national Emmy awards, as well as a 2001 Overseas Press Club Award for her work on 48 Hours and two Association of Women in Radio and Television Gracie Allen Awards for the weekly radio talk show that she co-hosted with Nancy Giles on WPHT in Philadelphia.  In 2000, she was honored with the Top 100 Award from Irish America magazine.  In 1988, she received the Outstanding Consumer Media Service Award presented by the Consumer Federation of America for “her many contributions of both local and national significance as a consumer reporter.”

 

Abbe David Lowell

Abbe David Lowell, a partner in the firm law firm of Chadbourne & Parke, has successfully tried numerous complex criminal and civil jury cases across the United States.  Mr. Lowell has been recognized as one of the 100 Most Influential Attorneys in America by The National Law Journal and as one of the Top 10 trial lawyers.  His clients include a number of individuals and companies in high profile criminal cases and civil litigation including Jack Abramoff, the former D.C. lobbyist who pleaded guilty to corruption and fraud charges, and actor Steven Seagal in contract litigation arising from his movie productions.  He has also twice served as Counsel to the United States House of Representatives – most recently as Chief Investigative Counsel to the Minority in the impeachment proceedings of President Clinton.
